You will need 2 triangular sheets of paper that, when pieced together, will form a square.

You will also need a long strip of paper to create a tail for your fish at the end.

The directions to fold a fish are identical to the directions of a cube. The only difference is that you have to fold with two triangular pieces of paper instead of a whole square sheet.

1. Take one triangle first (yellow). Valley fold (a valley fold is formed by folding the paper onto oneself, marked by a dashed line) down the middle line of the triangle and mountain fold (a mountain fold is formed by folding the paper away from oneself, marked by a dashed-and-dotted line) the upper half. The result should look like the third diagram.

2. Repeat for the other triangular piece of paper (blue).

3. Turn the yellow sheet over and put it on top of the blue sheet. The result is the same waterbomb base for the cube, except the paper is split into 2 sheets.

4. Valley fold the triangle sides to the middle. For the left side, make sure you valley fold 2 sheets of paper so that the resulting triangle color is split in half (i.e. blue triangle on left and yellow triangle on right).

5. Turn the paper over and repeat step 4. It should end up looking like a square.

6. Valley fold the left and right points to the middle line.

7. Turn the paper over and repeat step 6.

8. Take the 2 little left triangle flaps and tuck them inside the middle pocket under it. Once snugly tucked inside the pocket, flatten it into a fold. Repeat for the little right triangle, which is in 1 piece.

9. Turn the paper over and repeat step 8.

10. Crease along the lines, and then unfold again.

11. Pull the flaps a bit apart (like a star) and look at the top of the paper. It should open up. Stick your finger inside to inflate the fish head, it should look like the third picture.

12. Draw eyes on both sides.

13. Take the smaller strip of paper and make it into a tail. Cut and decorate one end (the right on the diagram) any way you wish. The other end (the left on the diagram) should have a widened cut. The middle section should be narrow.

14. Fold the left portion of the tail sheet so that it can go inside the back hole of the fish head. Once the tail is inside the head, unfold the widened portion from inside the fish's mouth so that the tail will not fall out.

Tada, you have completed the fish!
